For my father’s birthday, I gave him exclusive membership in the Adventure of the Month Club.
The club roster is two-strong: my father and me.
And every month, club members will walk out the front door and do something they haven’t done before.
Part of an adventure, after all, is leaving what we know to find out something we don’t know.
I’ve picked things where we’ll both be novices, like a hot air balloon festival in August and tapping maple trees for syrup in March.
Because the intent of the Club isn’t to parade our abilities; it’s to make the unfamiliar a little more familiar. And to do it with an adventurer’s spirit.
So, if I had to write out the Club’s mission, I might put it this way: “To give each member’s status quo a good, healthy shakeup, one adventure at a time.”
